NewsNation will simulcast Nexstar Media Group’s “Debate Week in Michigan” on Thursday, October 8, giving the cable news network’s national audience access to a U.S. Senate debate originating from WOOD-TV’s studios in Grand Rapids.
The one-hour debate will air at 7 p.m. Eastern Time and feature Republican nominee Congressman Mike Rogers and Democratic nominee Dr. Abdul El-Sayed. The program will be moderated by WOOD (Channel 8, NBC) political reporter Rick Albin and anchor Amber Krycka.
The debate will give both candidates an opportunity to address issues facing Michigan voters ahead of the November midterm election.
NewsNation Chief Washington Correspondent Leland Vittert will host the simulcast, which will preempt “Elizabeth Vargas Reports” in the network’s 7 p.m. Eastern Time slot.
Following the debate, NewsNation Politics Editor Chris Stirewalt will provide analysis and a review of key moments during “CUOMO,” which airs weeknights at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
NewsNation will also originate additional programming from Michigan ahead of the debate. Vittert will host special editions of “On Balance” from the state on Tuesday, October 6 and Wednesday, October 7. The program airs weeknights at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.
NewsNation Senior Congressional Correspondent Joe Khalil will provide additional reporting from Michigan.
