Sports streaming service DAZN has acquired BASKET.TV, a basketball-focused streaming platform operating across Latin America, expanding its portfolio of basketball rights and strengthening its presence in a region the company has identified as a priority for growth.

The acquisition announced Monday brings a streaming service with hundreds of thousands of users and approximately 4,900 basketball games per season under DAZN’s ownership.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. DAZN did not disclose whether BASKET.TV will continue operating independently or whether its programming and subscribers will eventually be integrated into the broader DAZN platform.

Founded in 2020, BASKET.TV operates primarily in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Uruguay, where it distributes programming from domestic basketball leagues and selected international club competitions. The platform offers coverage involving more than 300 teams across its operating markets.

DAZN said the acquisition will complement its existing basketball programming, including international competitions distributed through Courtside 1891, its basketball-focused streaming offering. The company maintains a long-term partnership with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), including the FIBA Media joint venture, which supports the distribution and commercialization of international basketball competitions. DAZN recently carried the FIBA Women’s World Cup globally through Courtside 1891, which is available on its streaming platform.

“BASKET.TV has built a high-quality basketball platform with top-tier domestic rights, deep market expertise and an impressive technology operation,” Shay Segev, the CEO of DAZN Group, said in a statement on Tuesday. “This acquisition significantly strengthens our global basketball proposition and supports our broader growth ambitions across Latin America. Together, we’ll create great value for fans, leagues and partners while continuing to grow the sport around the world.”

The transaction adds another regional basketball service to DAZN’s portfolio as the company expands its programming beyond major international competitions into domestic leagues and team-specific offerings: DAZN already distributes basketball programming from the NBA, NCAA college basketball, Britain’s Super League Basketball, France’s LNB Élite and Spain’s Liga Endesa and Copa del Rey competitions.

In the United States, the company has recently established local streaming partnerships involving the Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies, Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards.

Those agreements supplement the company’s international basketball portfolio, although the availability of individual games and competitions varies by territory and the rights held by DAZN.
