Curacao, a retailer known for its shop-now-pay-later approach, is offering an extended trial of Vidgo’s streaming television service to shoppers who purchase a new smart TV.
The deal will see customers who purchase a qualified smart TV from Curacao get a three-month free trial of Vidgo’s Spanish-language package, Vidgo Más, which offers over 50 channels of entertainment, news and sports. Shoppers can also choose a one-month free trial of Vidgo Premium and its 150 channels of English and Spanish-language entertainment, news and sports.
Both trial offers also include a free Roku Streaming Stick, and neither package requires customers to sign a contract.
Curacao said the deal is part of the retailer’s attempt to help shoppers at a time when inflation is hitting wallets hard. Vidgo is seen as a good streaming partner because its various programming packages offer access to the channels, live news and sports that Curacao shoppers want.
“Our customers trust us to deliver real value,” Reuven Hayun, the senior vice president of purchasing and merchandising for Curacao, said in a statement. “Choosing to give away Vidgo was easy — Vidgo allows them to watch the world’s biggest soccer tournament or their favorite live sports, movies, or networks on the go, on their smartphone, tablet, PC or on TV, anywhere at any time.”
Hayun specifically noted Vidgo’s channels that offer live access to European and Mexican soccer matches, including the Univision Deportes Network (TUDN), ESPN, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2 and Fox Deportes.
“Partnering with Vidgo enables us to provide an additional and extreme value to Curacao’s customers, just in time for the holidays and beyond,” Hayun said.
A subscription to Vidgo Más normally costs $40 a month, while Vidgo Premium costs $80 a month. Curacao said the extended free trial to Vidgo and the Roku Streaming Stick offer is a value worth at least $120.
“Curacao is an amazingly terrific and trusted partner,” Derek Mattsson, the chief executive of Vidgo, said in a statement on Thursday. “Our rich sports lineup, including the world’s biggest soccer tournament and the MLB championship series, along with thousands of on-demand titles, and so many live networks, give viewers an option to save money on their TV bills.”
Curacao stores are primarily located on the West Coast, but the retailer also offers online shopping for customers who can’t visit a physical store in California, Nevada or Arizona. However, the Vidgo promotion is limited to in-store purchases, a spokesperson for the streaming service told The Desk.
Vidgo Más offers more than 50 channels of programming, including TUDN, Fox Deportes, Discovery en Español, Antena 3, Bandamax, Sony Cine, Telefe, History en Español, Telehit, Estrella TV, Univision, MTV Tres, Foro TV, Galavision and Nat Geo Mundo.
Vidgo Premium includes over 100 channels available in Vidgo’s base package — among them, local Fox and ABC stations; the Disney Channel; Fox News Channel; Comedy Central; BET; Discovery Channel; Animal Planet; A&E; the History Channel; NFL Network; MLB Network; NHL Network; ESPN and ohters — along with premium networks like NFL RedZone.
