Comcast has struck a distribution deal with anime streaming service Crunchyroll that makes the app available to users of the company’s Xfinity connected TV devices.
Starting this week, users can stream content from Crunchyroll on their Xfinity X1 set-top boxes and Xfinity Flex devices. The app is also rolling out to Xumo-powered smart TVs and streaming devices, including the Xumo Stream Box.
“We’re excited to bring Crunchyroll to Comcast’s entertainment devices, expanding the availability of our extensive anime library for Xfinity and Xumo customers to enjoy their favorite anime,” said Rahul Purini, the President at Crunchyroll. “Whether they’re longtime anime enthusiasts or newcomers, viewers can now easily discover and enjoy our vast catalog of series and films. This collaboration marks a significant step in making anime even more accessible to fans across the U.S.”
“With the launch of Crunchyroll on our platforms, customers can now enjoy some of the best and most-popular anime programming directly alongside all the other movies and TV shows they love,” said Sudhir Muralidhar, the Vice President of Product and Platform Experiences at Comcast. “Anime has been exploding in popularity here in the U.S., so Crunchyroll is a great addition to the growing catalog of streaming apps available across our platforms.”
Xfinity TV, Xfinity Flex and Xumo users can launch the Crunchyroll app by saying “Crunchyroll” into their voice-powered remotes.
