One of the most-popular features on YouTube TV are the streamer’s commercial break interstitials that invite customers to enjoy a moment of zen before their show or movie resumes — and, now, streamers who are fans of those bumpers can access a 24-hour channel filled with those calming, short-form videos.
On Wednesday, YouTube announced the launch of the YouTube TV Zen channel, which streamers can tune to anytime, day or night, whether they’re in-between shows and movies or just looking for some ambient videos and sounds.
“You’ve been asking for 24-7 access to our beloved zen moments, and we heard you,” a YouTube TV spokesperson wrote in an email to customers that was obtained by The Desk this week. “Based on your suggestion, we’ve launched a dedicated zen channel so you can tune in to this calming content anytime.”
Streamers who pay for the $73 per month service can watch the YouTube TV Zen moment by searching for “YouTube TV Zen” within the app. The channel is also available within the YouTube TV guide, though customers who have customized their live guides will have to add the channel manually. (Those who don’t want to go through the hassle of looking for it can also just click or tap here to watch the YouTube TV Zen channel on their phone, tablet or computer.)
The YouTube TV Zen channel collates moments of peace, from a crackling camp fire to cute penguins walking on ice. Different ambient videos and audio clips play throughout the year, based on the season.
In addition to the YouTube TV Zen channel, YouTube TV offers access to live broadcast and cable channels from the Walt Disney Company (ABC, ESPN, FX, National Geographic, Freeform), Fox Corporation (Fox, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, Fox News Channel), Comcast’s NBC Universal (NBC, Bravo, E!, CNBC, MSNBC, USA Network), AMC Networks, Warner Bros Discovery (TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, Discovery Channel, Anminal Planet, CNN) and others for $73 per month. The service is available across most popular phones, tablets, smart TVs, game consoles and computers.
