The E. W. Scripps Company has tapped the general manager of its Nashville TV station to lead all local media operations across its local broadcast footprint.

This week, Lyn Plantinga was promoted to the role of Senior Vice President of Local Media, effective Tuesday. Plantinga will maintain her oversight of WTVF (Channel 5, CBS) in Nashville and several other TV stations nearby while also managing Scripps’ team of regional vice presidents across the country. She will report to Dean Littleton, the Executive Vice President of Media Broadcast Operations at Scripps.

“Lyn is a seasoned local media leader, committed to operational excellence, strong financial performance and leading teams to deliver quality, objective journalism,” Littleton said in a statement. “This new role will allow her to work closely with all of Scripps’ local stations, our employees and the communities Scripps serves.”

Plantinga has spent her entire broadcast TV career at WTVF, starting in news management and production roles in the late 1980s and early 1990s before being promoted to assistant news director in 1998. Three years later, she became the station’s national sales manager, then was promoted to station manager in 2006. Her last promotion was in 2014, when she accepted her current role as president and general manager of WTVF.

Plantinga served as the board president of the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters and was the committee chair of the CBS affiliate board.
