Television broadcaster Gray Media has appointed Bob Kroeger as Chief Technology Officer, effective immediately.

Kroeger previously served as Chief Information Officer for both Gray and Raycom Media. He brings more than three decades of leadership experience in broadcast engineering and information technology to his new role. Kroeger succeeds David Burke, who retired on July 31 and will remain with the company as an advisor through the end of the year.

“We are thrilled to elevate Bob Kroeger to Chief Technology Officer of Gray Media,” said Pat LaPlatney, Gray’s President and Co-CEO. “He has a wealth of experience, and is highly respected by our employees, and across the industry. Bob has big shoes to fill with the departure of David Burke, but we are thrilled to have someone of his caliber step up to our CTO role.”

Kroeger’s career includes executive positions at major broadcast groups as well as station-level technology leadership. In addition to his CIO roles at Gray and Raycom, he held technology leadership positions at WSMV (NBC) in Nashville, WOIO/WUAB (CBS/CW) in Cleveland, and WXIX (Fox) in Cincinnati.

Over the course of his career, Kroeger has managed multi-site IT and broadcast engineering operations, leading initiatives that include cloud migration, enterprise software deployments, and new infrastructure rollouts. His technical background spans IT strategy, enterprise security, broadcast system management, data center operations, and the integration of emerging technologies into broadcast workflows.

Kroeger holds degrees from Northern Kentucky University and the University of Cincinnati.

Burke, who had served as Gray’s CTO since 2018, oversaw the company’s technical operations during a period of significant growth and industry transformation. His continued advisory role through the remainder of the year is expected to help ensure a smooth leadership transition.
