
Fox News finished August as the leading news brand on YouTube, racking up 386.2 million views and outpacing both broadcast and cable rivals, according to data released by social media analytics firm Emplifi.
The figure was 65 percent higher than the same month last year and 16 percent above July’s total. MSNBC ranked second with 275.6 million views, followed by CNN with 186.6 million. NBC News, ABC News and CBS News trailed with 123.7 million, 110 million and 42.2 million views, respectively.
Beyond YouTube, Fox News Digital maintained its lead across key Comscore metrics, delivering 3.6 billion multiplatform minutes, 1.8 billion multiplatform views and 88 million total desktop and mobile unique visitors during August.
The outlet has now topped CNN in unique visitors for two consecutive months. CNN, by comparison, posted steep year-over-year declines across the board: multiplatform views were down 54 percent, minutes fell 65 percent and unique visitors slid 36 percent, with the network dropping below 1 billion multiplatform minutes for the first time.
Fox News Digital also registered 148 million total multiplatform unique visitors during the month. Its mobile app drew 6.3 million unique viewers.
On social media, Fox News again ranked as the most engaged brand within the competitive set.
Fox News generated 101 million total interactions across Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok, a gain of 213 percent compared to last year and 24 percent over July. Facebook accounted for the bulk with 71.9 million interactions, a 441 percent year-over-year increase. Instagram delivered 24.2 million, X (formerly Twitter) produced 5.3 million and TikTok added 20.5 million. Fox Business contributed an additional 981,000 social interactions.
FoxBusiness.com delivered 220 million multiplatform minutes, finishing fourth among business news outlets. The site generated 125 million multiplatform views, 27.8 million unique visitors and 62.3 million video views in August.
Comscore data showed Fox News Digital held a strong lead against CNN.com, NYTimes.com, CBSNews.com, NBCNews.com and ABCNews.com in August. Fox News Digital’s 88.1 million unique visitors were down 8 percent year-over-year but still ahead of CNN.com’s 74.7 million, CBSNews.com’s 73.1 million, NYTimes.com’s 64 million, NBCNews.com’s 60.8 million and ABCNews.com’s 19.7 million.
Fox News Digital’s 1.8 billion multiplatform views rose 6 percent year-over-year, while NYTimes.com posted 1.3 billion (down 18 percent). CNN.com drew 605 million, a steep decline from last year. CBSNews.com logged 324 million, NBCNews.com had 209 million and ABCNews.com came in with 85 million.
Total minutes viewed further reflected Fox’s dominance: Fox News Digital delivered 3.6 billion, up 10 percent. NYTimes.com followed with 1.2 billion, down 30 percent. CNN.com dropped to 826 million, CBSNews.com logged 816 million, NBCNews.com registered 560 million and ABCNews.com trailed with 89 million.
