Streaming sports service DAZN has set an early 2026 deadline for the relaunch of FIFA Plus, a platform that offers access to games from men’s and women’s soccer clubs.
In June, DAZN announced it was taking over FIFA Plus (stylized as FIFA+) with plans to relaunch it as a free, ad-supported global platform with a premium subscription service offering. DAZN promised the new FIFA Plus will include a mixture of live broadcasts and on-demand replays, plus highlights and shoulder programming.
The timing of the relaunch wasn’t revealed in the summer announcement; now, DAZN says it will relaunch FIFA Plus in early 2026, scheduled to coincide with the start of the FIFA World Cup men’s soccer tournament, which takes place in the summer months.
The new version of FIFA Plus will exist within the DAZN app, and it will still offer a mixture of live and on-demand replays from more than 100 men’s and women’s national teams, DAZN said in a statement this week.
FIFA Plus will also feature a new multi-channel news service that will offer hourly updates, weekly analysis and original programming, the company said.
Mattias Grafström, FIFA’s Secretary General, said the collaboration with DAZN has already demonstrated strong results.
“In a short period of time, the partnership between FIFA and DAZN has proven to be a remarkably successful one, as witnessed through the record-breaking FIFA Club World Cup tournament in the United States earlier this year,” Grafström affirmed.
DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev described the project as a major advancement in the companies’ partnership.
“Our new global football platform marks a significant milestone in our successful partnership with FIFA, and is an exceptional addition to DAZN’s extensive portfolio of premium football content,” Segev said.
Originally launched in April 2022, FIFA Plus began as a free, ad-supported streaming service offering thousands of live matches from FIFA member associations, alongside original documentaries and a comprehensive archive that includes every FIFA World Cup and Women’s World Cup match ever recorded.
The 2026 relaunch on DAZN will expand that offering with a more sophisticated interface, personalization tools and broader global distribution. The platform will remain free to access in most markets, subject to regional rights restrictions, with optional paid upgrades for premium content and features.
FIFA said the partnership allows the organization to leverage DAZN’s technology and international marketing footprint to reach audiences on a larger scale. The relaunch comes as both organizations look to capitalize on surging interest in global football ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
A total of 48 teams will take part in the men’s soccer tournament, with 28 already qualifying for the event. Three of those countries — the United States, Canada and Mexico — will share the duty of hosting the tournament, which will be played in 16 North American cities. The tournament runs from June 11 to July 19.
In the United States, Fox has the rights to English-language broadcasts from the FIFA World Cup men’s soccer tournament, while Comcast’s Telemundo has Spanish-language broadcast rights. Bell Media is the broadcast partner for the tournament in Canada, while Televisa and TV Azteca are sharing TV rights in Mexico.
FIFA Plus is expected to offer shoulder programming related to the tournament, but not the actual games until well after the tournament ends.
