Sinclair has hired long-time broadcaster Michaela Pereira to serve as the Executive Producer of “Amazing America,” the company’s digital content brand focused on uplifting stories tied to the country’s cultural heritage.

Amazing America describes itself as a “handle for the heartland,” offering short-form videos centered on creativity, community and ingenuity. The brand distributes across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, where it has amassed more than 250,000 followers. Sinclair says monthly impressions reach into the millions through coordination with its station group, which frequently cross-promotes Amazing America segments to broaden audience reach.

The appointment marks the latest step in Sinclair’s effort to scale its digital programming through personality-driven storytelling that complements output from its local television stations, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

In a statement, Nickolas James, Sinclair’s Vice President, Social Media, said Pereira’s background reflects the editorial mission of Amazing America.

“Michaela’s passion for storytelling and her deep connection to communities perfectly reflect the mission of Amazing America,” James said. “Her creativity, authenticity and leadership will help us continue to grow the brand and celebrate the people and places that make America amazing.”

Pereira joins the venture after a decades-long career in broadcast journalism. She spent nearly ten years as an anchor of “KTLA Morning News” at KTLA-TV (Channel 5, CW) in Los Angeles, and later anchored “New Day” on CNN. She eventually fronted her own national program on HLN, the sister network to CNN; her work has earned several industry honors, including the Genii Award for Excellence in Broadcasting from the Alliance for Women in Media, the Hollywood Community Leadership Award from the Hollywood Police Activities League and the Celebrity Philanthropist Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is also an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists.

Beyond her on-air work, Pereira has long been involved in community service, supporting organizations that assist at-risk youth and families. Sinclair executives say that experience mirrors the thematic focus of Amazing America, which seeks to highlight local stories that emphasize resilience and personal impact.

For Pereira, the move represents a return to community-centered storytelling within a digital-first format.

“Joining Amazing America as Executive Producer feels like stepping into work that truly reflects my spirit,” she said. “The series aligns with my vision of storytelling as a bridge, celebrating authenticity, elevating diverse voices, and honoring the remarkable places and stories that shape us. I’m excited to help guide a project that embodies the curiosity and sense of wonder I try to live by.”

Sinclair expects Pereira to play a central role in developing the brand’s content strategy, guiding its roster of contributors and expanding its footprint across social platforms as the company continues investing in original digital programming.
