The Walt Disney Company’s flagship streaming service Disney Plus has increased its offering of news content by adding local news feeds from eight ABC-owned stations.

Starting this week, Disney Plus subscribers can watch live and on-demand replays of local news broadcasts from ABC stations in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Raleigh-Durham and Fresno.

The same local news feeds have been available on the individual websites of ABC-owned stations and through the ABC TV Everywhere app for phones, tablets and smart TVs. Some free streaming services like Xumo Play and Pluto TV also offer news from ABC-owned stations.

The local news feeds are free to watch across the country, even if a subscriber does not live in a market where ABC owns the local station, and streamers can switch among all eight feeds, depending on the news they want to watch.

The addition of the local news feeds increases the amount of news content available on the platform, which added ABC News Live a few years ago. Hulu has also offered ABC News Live for some time; Disney is in the process of winding down Hulu as a standalone app in favor of distributing Hulu content through Disney Plus on a full-time basis.
