Private equity firm Goldenpeak has acquired a majority stake in entertainment data and analytics company Ampere Analysis, the first time that an institutional investment has been made in the research firm since it launched more than a decade ago.

The deal, announced Tuesday, also includes Ampere’s simultaneous acquisition of streaming analytics company PlumResearch, a move designed to expand Ampere’s audience measurement and viewership analytics capabilities across the global media and entertainment sector.

Financial terms of the transactions were not disclosed.

Goldenpeak, a newly launched private equity firm focused on high-growth business and information services companies, said the investment aligns with its strategy of backing founder-led firms with scalable products and strong market positions. Ampere becomes the firm’s first investment.

Ampere provides subscription-based research, forecasting and analytics services covering the film, television, gaming and sports industries. Its clients include major studios, technology firms, sports leagues and gaming companies seeking insight into audience behavior, monetization strategies and global entertainment trends.

The acquisition of PlumResearch is expected to bolster Ampere’s streaming and audience intelligence products by integrating detailed viewership data into its existing market analytics platform. The companies said the combined offering will create opportunities for broader product development and additional analysis tools for media clients.

“This partnership marks a new chapter for Ampere Analysis,” Ampere Managing Director Dan Stevenson said in a statement. “With Goldenpeak’s backing, we have an opportunity to accelerate our growth ambitions and strengthen our position as a leading data and analytics platform for the global media industry.”

In a letter distributed to media contacts alongside the announcement, Stevenson said the transactions would allow Ampere to “invest further in our products, datasets and capabilities,” while creating “new areas of analysis in the months ahead.”

Goldenpeak executives said the investment comes as demand for data-driven decision-making continues to expand across the media and entertainment industries.

“Ampere Analysis is a founder-led business with a differentiated product, strong market reputation and sustained top-line performance,” Mark Williams, the Founder and Managing Partner of Goldenpeak, said on Tuesday. “The management team is ambitious and innovative, and we look forward to partnering with them to support the next phase of development.”

Leon Gillespie, also a Founder and Managing Partner at Goldenpeak, described the investment as a milestone for the private equity firm and cited continued growth in the United Kingdom’s data and analytics market.

“The UK data and analytics market is rapidly expanding, with organizations increasingly prioritizing data-driven decision-making,” Gillespie said. “This investment represents a significant milestone for Goldenpeak and highlights our focus on building trusted, collaborative partnerships with founders.”

Goldenpeak received advisory support from Plural, KPMG, Squires Patton Boggs and Cardean Bell. Ampere was advised by Raymond James, Addleshaw Goddard, Liberty Corporate Finance and Deloitte.
