  • Spectrum News Tennessee is available to Spectrum TV customers on channel 1 and through the Spectrum News app and connected TV platforms.
  • The channel offers local headlines every 15 minutes and weather updates every 10 minutes.
  • The launch expands Spectrum News’ growing portfolio of local and streaming news services; over the past year, Spectrum News has launched regional channels in Northern California and New England.

Spectrum News has expanded its local television news footprint with the launch of Spectrum News Tennessee, a 24-hour news network serving Spectrum TV customers across the state.

The channel is now available on channel 1 for Spectrum subscribers and can also be accessed through the Spectrum News mobile app, the Xumo Stream Box, Roku and Apple TV devices.

Spectrum News Tennessee will provide local headlines every 15 minutes and weather forecasts every 10 minutes, following the format used across the company’s other regional news operations.

“Tennessee is the best place to live, work and raise a family, and we welcome Spectrum News to our state,” Tennessee Governor Bill Lee said in a statement. “We appreciate the company’s commitment to keeping communities across Tennessee informed and congratulate Spectrum News on its launch.”

The company has named Rebecca Walters as Executive Producer of the new network. Walters began her journalism career with Spectrum News 1 in Kentucky in 2018 before serving as Executive Producer at KJRH (Channel 2, NBC) in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“My experience at Spectrum News showed me first-hand how local, reliable and community-focused journalism can make a difference,” Walters said. “Tennesseans can expect coverage that reflects their voices and concerns, connecting them to issues shaping their neighborhoods.”

Joining the newsroom is Corinne Piorkowski, who will cover the Knoxville area. Piorkowski recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and participated in the Spectrum News Fellowship program, which provides newsroom training for aspiring journalists.

Spectrum News Tennessee will deploy reporters in communities across the state, with coverage focused on Nashville, Knoxville, Johnson City, Jackson and surrounding areas. The company said the goal is to provide reporting centered on local issues and community concerns.

The launch marks the latest expansion of Spectrum News, which has broadened its local news portfolio in recent years through the addition of new regional television channels, including ones in Georgia and Northern California. Spectrum News also rolled out a Spanish-language channel called Spectrum Noticias last year, and in February, Spectrum News acquired New England Cable News (NECN) from NBC Universal.
