Streaming technology provider Velocix has appointed Patrick Ferguson as its new Chief Executive Officer as the company looks to expand its cloud-native video delivery platform and strengthen its position in the global streaming infrastructure market.
The appointment is effective immediately, Velocix said in a statement. In a statement, Ferguson said he plans to build on Velocix’s reputation for helping operators deliver reliable and scalable streaming services while working with customers and partners to accelerate the company’s next phase of growth.
“I am delighted to join Velocix at such an exciting and transformative time for the video technology industry,” Ferguson said. “This company has a strong reputation for helping operators deliver reliable, scalable and seamless streaming services. I look forward to working with our talented team, customers, and partners to build on that foundation and accelerate the next chapter of growth.”
Velocix develops software and services that enable operators to manage content delivery, origin services, storage and streaming workflows across broadcast, broadband and cloud environments. Its products are designed to help service providers optimize network performance while supporting large-scale video distribution.
Ferguson’s appointment comes as Velocix positions itself as a company that is focused on cloud-native video delivery solutions, streaming optimization and customer-driven innovation, at a time when more of the industry is moving away from traditional pipelines of content delivery toward IP-based video distribution.
Velocix operates as a standalone company with a portfolio of different media-driven businesses, including Titan.ium, Wide Orbit, Ubersmith, Flash Networks, Telepin and NetAdmin, among others. Collectively, its business units are known as Lumine Group, which acquired Velocix from Nokia in 2021.
Ferguson moved over to Velocix after joining Lumine Group in February, according to a social media profile. Previously, he worked for Xperi in different roles, leaving as the company’s Global Head of Product & Consumer Options focused on the TiVo platform. He was also a strategic advisor under contract to technology developer MyBundle.
Velocix is based in London.
