Comcast is expanding the sports viewing capabilities of its Xfinity television platform for the 2026-2027 NBA season, introducing low-latency 4K streaming, enhanced wireless connectivity and interactive features designed to improve the experience of watching live basketball.

This week, executives said Comcast’s RealTime4K technology will be available for every Monday night NBA game carried by NBC Sports Network, offering Xfinity subscribers access to higher-quality video with significantly less delay than conventional streaming services.

Comcast says RealTime4K delivers live sports coverage just seconds behind the action on the court, combining ultra-low latency with enhanced picture and audio quality. The company claims its technology delivers live coverage faster than competing television and streaming providers. The technology will be paired with a new smart-boost WiFi feature, which allows eligible Xfinity subscribers to prioritize wireless connectivity when watching RealTime4K programming.

Customers can activate the feature directly through their X1 television interface using their remote control, providing additional wireless network resources to help maintain consistent streaming performance.

“Technologies like RealTime4K and smart-boost WiFi are a great example of how our superior network, intelligent WiFi and innovative entertainment platform can work together to deliver sports viewing experiences unlike anything else out there today,” Kohposh Kuda, the Senior Vice President of Consumer Product Marketing, Connectivity and Platforms at Comcast, said in a statement this week.

Monday night NBA games will also be available through Peacock, which is implementing a new content delivery architecture developed by Comcast and technology company Fastly. The architecture is designed to distribute high-demand programming closer to viewers, improving delivery efficiency and supporting streaming performance during major live events.

Xfinity’s NBA Hub provides a centralized destination for live basketball games, highlights, schedules and related programming available through broadcast television, cable networks and streaming services. A feature called Fan View allows subscribers to access real-time statistics, betting odds, scores and other information while watching live games. Comcast also offers Create Your Own Multiview, which allows viewers to select and watch up to four live sporting events simultaneously on a single television screen. The feature supports programming across multiple sports, including basketball, football and baseball.

The company is also promoting its Xfinity Sports & News TV package, which combines national sports networks, local broadcast stations, national news channels and Peacock.

Subscribers interested in additional basketball coverage can purchase NBA League Pass through Xfinity, providing access to out-of-market games throughout the regular season. League Pass subscribers can watch games through their X1 television devices or use the Xfinity Stream application to access coverage outside the home.
