The San Antonio Spurs have become the latest National Basketball Association team to ink a one-off deal with a local television broadcaster to bring more of their regular-season games to free, over-the-air TV this season.
A total of 22 games will air on Sinclair, Inc.-owned KMYS (Channel 35, CW Network) during the 2026-27 season, the team and broadcaster announced in a joint press release on Friday.
The deal will make a selection of games from the season available on free broadcast TV in the San Antonio market, with additional broadcast partners expected to be announced soon. Those additional partners will extend the reach of Spurs games to other parts of South Texas, Sinclair and the Spurs said.

“The Spurs are an important part of the fabric of South Texas, and we’re proud to partner with the team to bring more games to fans across the region,” Rob Weisbord, the Chief Operating Officer and President of Local Media at Sinclair, said in a statement on Friday. “Live local sports are a natural fit for broadcast television, and this partnership reflects our commitment to making compelling content that enriches local lives.”
Frank Miceli, the Chief Commercial Officer of Spurs Sports & Entertainment, said the agreement is intended to provide additional ways for local viewers to follow the team throughout the season.

“Our fans are incredibly passionate and supportive and should have as many ways as possible to watch and connect with the Spurs,” Miceli said. “We’re excited to make this over-the-air option available, giving more fans a convenient way to watch the team, share in the Spurs spirit and stay connected throughout the season.”
Cable and satellite providers that offer KMYS will also be able to carry the games during the season, Sinclair noted. Some streaming platforms carry the station, which will make Spurs games not relegated to national TV available on those platforms as well.
The Spurs have not announced which 22 games will be included in the broadcast package or identified all the stations that will carry the games outside San Antonio.

The agreement is part of a broader effort by professional sports franchises to make more games available on free broadcast television, particularly as the cost of traditional cable and satellite television packages continues to influence how consumers watch live sports.
In addition to the Spurs, Sinclair recently announced an agreement with the Miami Heat to simulcast some basketball games on their West Palm Beach station WTCN (Channel 43) during the season. Other broadcasters, including TEGNA, Nexstar Media Group and Gray Media, have also announced deals to bring live basketball games to their over-the-air stations in some markets.
