Amazon to offer Discovery Plus Premium through Prime Video Channels

Amazon has inked a distribution deal with Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) that allows it to sell access to Discovery Plus Premium through its Prime Video Channels platform in the United Kingdom.

The deal builds on a relationship Amazon already has with WBD that allows Prime Video customers to purchase Discovery Plus and the general entertainment service Max in several territories.

In the United Kingdom, Discovery Plus Premium unlocks live sports through the newly-rebranded TNT Sports channels, as well as some streaming-only events. The service costs £30 per month (around U.S. $37.20 per month) and offers UEFA Champions League, Premiere Rugby, MotoGP, UFC boxing and WWE through the TNT Sports channels. It will also offer some events from the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris; WBD shares domestic telecast and streaming rights to the tournament with the BBC.

“This extension of our partnership with Warner Bros Discovery will give our Prime Video customers in the UK access to even more of the best sports and entertainment, all in one place,” Chris Bird, the country director for Prime Video in the United Kingdom, said in a statement. “The addition of Discovery Plus Premium, including TNT Sports, is a great complement to the original series, movies and live sport that we already offer on Prime Video.”

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Prime Video, bringing more customers more access to our live sport and entertainment content in the UK, underscoring our commitment to give viewers the opportunity to enjoy their favorite programs in the way that suits them best,” Andrew Georgiou, the president of WBD UK and Ireland and WBD Sports Europe, said on Friday.
