Google TV FAST platform grows to over 100 free streaming channels

Google has quietly added dozens of new free streaming channels to the “Live” tab on its Google TV devices.

The new channels bring the total number of free, ad-supported content streams to over 100, all of which are offered natively on Google TV devices like the Chromecast with Google TV and most newer-model Sony Bravia TV sets.

Google first revamped the “Live” tab on its Google TV devices in April, bringing more than 80 channels of streaming content to a new section that is also called “Google TV.” The section also aggregates streaming channels from select third-party apps, including Plex, Paramount’s Pluto TV and Fox’s Tubi.

Here’s a list of the free channels offered natively through the Google TV option on supported Google TV and Android TV-powered devices, as reviewed by The Desk (new channels are listed in bold):

The live channels offered through the Google TV menu are powered by Xumo, the free, ad-supported streaming platform operated as a joint venture between Comcast and Charter. The same streaming channels are also available on Xumo Play, a free app that is available on other platforms like Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV.
