CNN has named Marie Beaudette as Vice President of Business and Media, where she will oversee the network’s business and media coverage and lead its strategy and content, the channel announced on Monday.

Beaudette comes to CNN from The Wall Street Journal, where she most recently served as Business, Finance and Economics Coverage Chief. In that role, she managed nearly 200 reporters and editors across multiple bureaus, bringing together teams focused on companies, technology, markets and the U.S. economy.

During her tenure at the Journal, Beaudette oversaw reporting on the U.S. banking sector, corporate mergers during a surge of dealmaking, and major bankruptcies tied to the 2008 financial crisis. She also held the position of assistant managing editor for talent, directing newsroom recruiting, career development and internship initiatives.

Beaudette began her two-decade career at Dow Jones, the Journal’s parent company, as a reporter for its financial newswire focused on corporate bankruptcies. Prior to that, she worked as a reporter at Legal Times in Washington, D.C., covering legal and government affairs.

At the Journal, she was also credited with advancing digital storytelling initiatives that expanded the publication’s reach across new platforms.

Beaudette holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland and will be based at CNN’s New York bureau.

CNN is owned by Warner Bros Discovery.
