Media Minute, the digital publishing venture behind Mental Floss, the Players Tribune and FanSided, has acquired AI-driven software company VideoVerse and its Magnifi platform to help further accelerate its digital video business.

Magnifi uses artificial intelligence to automatically detect key moments in live games, generate highlights in real time and distribute clips across multiple platforms. Its tools combine computer vision, natural language processing and machine learning to analyze both visual and audio cues, identifying standout plays and enhancing them with features like multilingual subtitles, automatic thumbnail creation and metadata tagging.

The acquisition allows Minute Media to integrate Magnifi into its existing sports content ecosystem, creating what it described as a full-stack solution for creation, distribution and monetization. The company said it plans to deepen its partnerships with teams, leagues and federations worldwide by offering a more streamlined way to generate revenue from short-form video assets.

“We are thrilled to bring the passionate teams and robust capabilities of VideoVerse into the Minute Media family to bring teams and leagues a full-stack solution from creation to distribution to monetization,” said Asaf Peled, the founder and CEO of Minute Media. “In addition, with VideoVerse’s technologies, Minute Media’s owned & operated brands, partners, and clients will experience and have the very best in AI-powered creation.”

Existing Magnifi clients will gain access to Minute Media’s global distribution and monetization platforms, which include partnerships through STN Video as well as publishing outlets such as Sports Illustrated and The Players’ Tribune. The companies said the integration will deliver stronger returns for rights holders by turning live game content into revenue-driving short clips with greater efficiency.

Minute Media said VideoVerse’s technology will also bolster its STN Video platform, which powers content delivery for leagues and media partners. The companies plan to continue investing in India, where VideoVerse has a strong AI engineering presence, with a focus on advancing next-generation video tools.

The deal comes as sports media companies increasingly look to AI to streamline video production and respond to growing demand for highlight-driven content across streaming platforms and social media. By combining VideoVerse’s technology with Minute Media’s reach, the companies said they hope to deliver “unprecedented value” to teams, leagues and fans.
