Fox Weather has selected Mississippi State University student Jake Kasitz as the fifth recipient of its annual meteorology scholarship, continuing a partnership designed to support students pursuing careers in weather forecasting and atmospheric sciences.

The scholarship, offered through a collaboration between Fox Weather and Mississippi State University, provides financial assistance, professional mentorship and an internship opportunity with the network.

As part of the award, Kasitz will intern with Fox Weather during the 2026-2027 academic year and will be mentored by Fox Weather meteorologist Ian Oliver.

“We are proud to recognize Jake Kasitz as the fifth recipient of our scholarship in partnership with Mississippi State University,” Sharri Berg, the President of Fox Weather, said in a statement this week. “We welcome him to a growing group of talented young meteorologists who represent the future of our industry as we remain committed to supporting the next generation of weather professionals through mentorship and hands-on experience.”

Kasitz is majoring in meteorology while pursuing minors in geographic information systems and mathematics. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and was named chair of the organization’s technology committee in 2025.

In addition to his academic work, Kasitz has participated in research projects involving Mississippi State University, the University of Arizona and the University of Florida. He was also selected for Florida State University’s Young Scholars Program in 2022 and has served as an ambassador for Mississippi State’s College of Arts and Sciences since 2024.

This summer, Kasitz is scheduled to intern with the National Weather Service.

“It is an honor to be chosen as this year’s Fox Weather Scholarship recipient,” Kasitz said. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunities this program provides and excited to learn from some of the best professionals in the industry.”

Fox Weather launched the scholarship program in 2021 as part of a long-term partnership with Mississippi State University. The initiative is intended to help develop future meteorologists through a combination of financial support, professional guidance and real-world experience inside a national weather news operation.

Fox Weather is available as a free linear stream on popular platforms like YouTube, Xumo Play, Pluto TV, Plex, Samsung TV Plus, LG Channels, Vizio WatchFree Plus and The Roku Channel. An audio simulcast of the service is also available on TuneIn and SiriusXM. The service is operated by Fox News Media.
