Get After It Media has partnered with Hasbro Entertainment to launch Hasbro Legends, a free linear television network featuring programming based on several of the toy and entertainment company’s best-known franchises.
The channel went live July 13 and is available around the clock through broadcast television affiliates and the Heartland Plus streaming service. Get After It Media said the network reached more than 55 percent of U.S. television households on its first day.
Hasbro Legends is available in 71 markets, including all of the 35 largest television markets in the United States. The company estimates the channel is accessible in 70.8 million television households with a potential audience of approximately 180 million viewers.
The network’s programming lineup includes series and other content tied to “G.I. Joe,” “Transformers,” “Power Rangers,” “My Little Pony” and “Jem and the Holograms.” The service is being positioned as a nostalgia-oriented channel for adults familiar with the properties as well as younger viewers discovering them through newer adaptations, toys and licensed products.
The launch gives Hasbro another outlet for its library programming while providing Get After It Media with a branded network centered on established entertainment properties. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, and the companies did not identify how much original programming could eventually be developed for the channel.
“Hasbro has built one of the most recognizable entertainment portfolios in the world and we’re honored they’ve chosen Get After It Media to help bring these iconic franchises to audiences through Hasbro Legends,” Joel Wertman, the Chief Executive Officer of Get After It Media, said in a statement.
Hasbro Legends expands Get After It Media’s portfolio to five nationally distributed television networks. The company also owns and operates The Heartland Network, Retro TV, The Family Channel and The Rev’n Action Channel.
Get After It Media said its networks collectively reach more than 93 million households through 353 affiliates in over 100 U.S. markets. The company also recently launched Heartland Plus, which offers live television, on-demand movies and series, original programming and music channels through mobile devices, connected television platforms and web browsers.
Hasbro Entertainment oversees film, television, animation and digital projects based on the company’s intellectual property. Its current development slate includes adaptations involving “Clue,” “Dungeons & Dragons,” “Monopoly,” “Magic: The Gathering,” “My Little Pony” and “The Game of Life,” along with a live-action “Power Rangers” series being developed by 20th Century Television for Disney Plus.
