Allen Media Group’s free streaming television platform Local Now has launched a dedicated menu with live coverage from local and national TV partners of Hurricane Isaias.

The Desk spotted the new menu Friday while conducting research for another story. The menu, called Tropics Update, includes around-the-clock coverage from Fox Weather and localized news broadcasts and reports from the following TV stations:

  • WAKA (Channel 8, CBS) in Montgomery, Alabama
  • WALA (Channel 10, Fox) in Mobile, Alabama / Pensacola, Florida
  • WBRC (Channel 6, Fox) in Birmingham, Alabama
  • WJHG (Channel 7, NBC) in Panama City, Florida
  • WSFA (Channel 12, NBC) in Montgomery, Alabama
  • WTXL (Channel 27, ABC) in Tallahassee, Florida
  • WVUE (Channel 8, Fox) in New Orleans

The stations are offered via Local Now through distribution agreements with the E. W. Scripps Company, Gray Media and Bahakel Communications. Local Now is also offering weather segments from Allen Media-owned The Weather Channel on its city-specific Local Now channels.

Other national news channels like NBC News Now, LiveNow from Fox, CBS News 24/7 and Scripps News are likely to offer coverage of Hurricane Isaias throughout the weekend. The storm is forecast to make landfall along the Gulf Coast as a Category 3 or high-end Category 2 storm between late Friday evening and early Saturday morning.

Local Now is available as a free download on most popular smart TVs, smartphones and tablets. Its channels are also available to stream via the Local Now website on desktop and laptop computers.
