Electric Entertainment has expanded the programming lineup of its free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service ElectricNow, adding 20 channels through a distribution agreement with FAST Channels TV.
On Monday, the companies announced new offerings spanning various categories like sports, gaming, documentaries, lifestyle programming, independent films, among others.
The additional content choices includes VueWho, a FAST channel featuring micro-dramas, a form of short, serialized storytelling typically associated with mobile video applications. The channel’s debut on ElectricNow marks its first distribution through a streaming television platform, according to the companies.
VueWho offers short-form dramas built around continuing storylines, including romance, family conflicts and other dramatic subjects. Its programming also includes lifestyle and entertainment shows such as “Daily Flash,” “El Flash Latino,” “Life, Love, Shopping,” “SiSi Hollywood,” “GalTime” and “OPINIONish.”
Other channels joining ElectricNow include CaribVision, Gaming Insights and Reviews, Pickle TV, Mental Health and Human Experience and NatureStream.TV.
The agreement expands ElectricNow’s relationship with FAST Channels TV, which maintains a catalog of more than 80 linear streaming channels available for distribution through internet television services, broadcasters, cable operators and telecommunications companies. Russell Foy, the CEO of FAST Channels TV, said the partnership is intended to help streaming distributors expand their programming selections without developing or acquiring individual channels themselves.
“Our goal is to make it easier for distribution partners to find distinctive channels that attract audiences and help grow their streaming services,” Foy said in a statement.
ElectricNow is operated by Electric Entertainment, the Los Angeles-based production and distribution company led by Dean Devlin.
The free streaming platform offers more than 60 live channels, along with on-demand programming that includes Electric Entertainment productions such as “Leverage,” “Leverage: Redemption,” “The Librarians,” “Almost Paradise” and “The Ark.”
The service distributes its programming through dedicated applications and third-party streaming platforms, including The Roku Channel, Samsung TV Plus, Sling Freestream, Plex and LG Channels. ElectricNow also introduced updated applications for mobile devices, web browsers and connected television platforms earlier this year.
