Spectrum Business launches Cisco-powered networking service

Charter Communications has introduced a managed networking service powered by Cisco technology, offering enterprise customers integrated network security, routing and technical support through a monthly subscription via its Spectrum Business unit, the company announced on Wednesday.

The offering, called Managed Cisco Secure Networking, incorporates Cisco’s 8000 Series Secure Routers and Talos threat intelligence technology to help businesses manage network infrastructure and security across multiple locations.

Spectrum Business said the service is intended for enterprise customers facing growing connectivity requirements and security risks associated with artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.

The subscription covers network design, hardware, software licensing, installation, configuration and ongoing updates, allowing customers to outsource some or all of their network management responsibilities.

Businesses can use the service with multiple connectivity options, including dedicated fiber, broadband, 5G and satellite connections. Spectrum Business said the offering is backed by a 100 percent uptime service-level agreement.

The technology also incorporates advanced security capabilities, including support for post-quantum cryptography on compatible Cisco routers, along with centralized tools for monitoring network activity and managing security configurations.

“Cisco’s Secure Router gives us powerful new hardware and dashboard controls which enable enforcement of next generation threat protections, while providing AI-enhanced full visibility across the network,” said Keith Dardis, Executive Vice President of Spectrum Business.

Spectrum Business said customers can manage network settings themselves or delegate those responsibilities to its technical teams, which provide support around the clock.

The company was among the first U.S. service providers to certify and introduce Cisco’s 8000 Series Secure Routers for enterprise customers, receiving an early adopter award at the Cisco Partner Summit.
