Roku debuts refreshed devices with rechargeable remote

Streaming hardware maker Roku has released two new versions of its popular Streaming Stick Plus, including one that comes bundled with the company’s “pro” remote control.

On Monday, Roku said the base model of its Streaming Stick Plus comes with a better Wi-Fi antenna for faster access to streaming movies and TV shows along with support for 4K resolution, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content where available. That device will retail for $50.

An upgraded version of the Streaming Stick Plus comes bundled with the Roku Voice Remote Pro, the company’s first remote that ditches disposable batteries in favor of a rechargeable one that juices up via “any standard” USB charger.

By itself, the upgraded remote costs $30, but the Streaming Stick Plus bundle with the Roku Voice Remote Pro costs $70, a $10 savings if customers purchased both devices separately.
