A new consumer survey conducted by the Strategic Counsel has found Netflix to be the top must-keep TV brand among most American households.
Netflix maintains its position compared to last year — and, in fact, the top five must-keep brands saw no change in rank on Strategic Counsel’s charts between last year and this year.
The ranking was based on feedback from around 1,400 U.S. consumers, Strategic Counsel said.
Among streaming services, Prime Video ranked second to Netflix and clocked in at third among must-keep TV brands, while Hulu ranked third among streamers and seventh overall.
The broadcast networks — ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC — ranked below Netflix but among the top 10, with ABC the dominant broadcast network on Strategic Counsel’s chart and the only one ahead of Prime Video.
CBS came in fourth place and second among broadcast networks, while Fox was not too far behind. NBC ranked in sixth place, up from its seventh place spot last year.
When it comes to cable networks, the Fox News Channel was the top must-have TV brand, ranking first in its category and 13th overall, up four spots on the list. The Food Network came in second among cable networks and 17th overall, up one spot, while HGTV saw some of the biggest year-over growth, ranking 18th and up from its prior-year spot at 36th.
