Comcast’s NBC Universal says it will offer its presentation of Super Bowl LX and the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in ultra high-definition (UHD / 4K) in February, marking the first time that the network has made both events available in the format.

The move comes after other Super Bowl broadcasters offered an upconverted 4K feed of the championship National Football League (NFL) event on their streaming platforms in recent years, and after NBC previously made portions of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in 4K on Peacock.

This time around, the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympic Games will be broadcast in 4K throughout the duration of both events, NBC said. That coverage will include 4K feeds on supported local broadcast TV stations via NextGen TV as well as Peacock. Some cable, satellite and streaming providers will also offer dedicated 4K channels for NBC Sports coverage of both events. (Fubo, a streaming service owned by Disney, doesn’t offer NBC’s channels.)

The 4K broadcasts are part of NBC Universal’s broader “Legendary February” programming initiative, which also includes NBA All-Star Weekend.

From a production standpoint, Super Bowl LX will be produced using more than 80 cameras and 150 microphones, along with an updated graphics package and weather-based analytics integrated into the telecast.

Winter Olympics coverage from Italy will feature expanded aerial footage, additional athlete and team audio, and other production elements optimized for high-resolution viewing.

NBC will use a mixture of its own cameras located throughout the Olympic venues in Milan, Italy as well as 4K feeds provided by the Olympic Broadcasting Service.

On the streaming side, Peacock will introduce additional viewing features during the Winter Olympics, including a beta version of its multi-view feature for smartphones and tablets. The service will carry multiple live Olympic events simultaneously throughout the day, alongside the 4K presentation, which will also be offered with support for High Dynamic Range (HDR).

February 8 will be a busy day for the network, with Winter Olympic Games in the morning and late evening and its presentation of Super Bowl LX wedged in the middle of the day. Super Bowl LX will broadcast live from the San Francisco Bay Area, featuring the Seattle Seahawks taking on the New England Patriots for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
