Charter Communications has named John Lee as Head of Intelligence Ventures, establishing a new leadership role focused on developing data- and AI-driven products and partnerships as the company looks to expand its advanced advertising and enterprise solutions business.
Lee will lead a newly formed team tasked with building scalable, intelligence-driven offerings that leverage Charter’s proprietary data signals and artificial intelligence capabilities in a privacy-safe environment. The group will focus on creating products and partnerships aimed at marketers, agencies, platforms and enterprise clients.
He will report to Rich DiGeronimo, the President of Product and Technology at Charter, which operates consumer and enterprise services under the Spectrum brand.
“John brings deep expertise building and scaling data-driven products, platforms and organizations across media, technology and advertising,” DiGeronimo said in a statement. “He will help us expand the ways we utilize our unique data signals, technology and AI capabilities to develop new products and partnerships that drive growth and create new revenue streams.”
The appointment signals Charter’s continued investment in data monetization and advanced advertising capabilities, as pay TV and broadband providers increasingly look to leverage first-party data and AI tools to create new revenue opportunities beyond connectivity services.
Lee joins Charter after founding Scout Data Advisors in 2024, where he advised organizations on using data and AI to drive competitive advantage. Prior to that, he served as Chief Data Officer at NBCUniversal beginning in 2021, overseeing the company’s enterprise consumer data strategy and helping to advance its data-driven advertising initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Lee spent 13 years at Merkle, most recently as Corporate Chief Strategy Officer. In that role, he led long-term strategic planning and oversaw product teams, helping shape the company’s data and performance marketing capabilities.
