Sports-focused cable television replacement Fubo is making it easier for fans to watch locally-televised games via regional sports networks by introducing an add-on package that allows subscribers to tack on those channels via its slimmer Fubo Sports plan.
The package, called My Local Sports, is available to streamers who pay for Fubo Sports, a $65 per month plan that includes national sports and broadcast networks from Comcast’s NBC Universal, Fox Corporation, Paramount, the Walt Disney Company and others, plus local channels affiliated with ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC.
The regional sports channels available through the add-on package include those operated by Major League Baseball, the Chicago Home Sports Network, Marquee Sports Network and NBC Sports.
Price points were not available, but Fubo said the cost of the add-on package would be “attractive” to those who pay for Fubo Sports already. A discount available on the Fubo website allows new streamers to purchase Fubo Sports at full price with the My Local Sports add-on package included for one month at no extra cost.
“As we build Fubo TV’s strategic plan for profitable growth, giving fans flexibility, choice and value is one of our key priorities,” Fubo CEO Alisa Bowen said in a statement. “The launch of My Local Sports advances this by offering Fubo subscribers a competitively-priced lighter sports package together with their local regional sports network, for the best in local and national coverage. With My Local Sports, Fubo strengthens our leading position as the home for local sports while offering our subscribers new options to follow their favorite teams.”
Fubo competes with other streaming cable TV replacements like DIRECTV and YouTube TV, which have their own smaller sports-only offerings. Like its competitors, Fubo’s sports-only plan includes access to ESPN Unlimited at no extra cost.
Fubo is an independently-operated subsidiary business owned by the Walt Disney Company.
