The Weather Channel is now available as a free audio stream thanks to a new partnership between its parent company, Allen Media Group, and radio broadcaster Audacy.

The audio simulcast of the Weather Channel is one of three audio streams launched this week as part of the comprehensive partnership, which also includes simulcasts of the Weather Channel en Español and the social-focused climate channel Pattrn.

“Audio and radio are time-tested, reliable ways for listeners to access critical and potentially life-saving information during severe weather events,” Tim Clarke, the senior vice president of digital audio content at Audacy, said in a statement on Tuesday. “This partnership will add a new layer to our best-in-class news content offering while expanding the reach of The Weather Channel’s broadcast weather coverage to Audacy app users across the country.”

The agreement is the first time the Weather Channel has been made available as an audio simulcast on a free-to-access streaming audio platform. Previously, the Weather Channel was available on SiriusXM satellite radio during severe storms and emergency on a subscription-free channel, which closed in 2010 and wasn’t available on streaming.

“We’re excited to expand the footprint of our storytelling and life-saving news,” Byron Allen, the founder and chief executive of Allen Media Group, said. “This partnership with Audacy will allow us to continue being a valuable resource for people wherever they are.”

The three streams launched by Audacy this week are:

  • The Weather Channel: An audio simulcast of America’s first climate-focused cable channel, offering coverage of severe weather events.
  • The Weather Channel en Español: An audio simulcast of the Spanish-language, ad-supported streaming channel that offers around-the-clock weather forecasts and special coverage of severe weather.
  • PattrnAn audio simulcast of the free, ad-supported streaming television channel dedicated to climate-related programming with a focus on social responsibility.

All three streams are available for free on the Audacy website and Audacy streaming radio apps.
