
Weigel Broadcasting has struck a deal with several peer broadcasters to air games from the Chicago Sky basketball team on free over-the-air stations.
The games from the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) team will air on three Gray Media-owned stations and one station each from TEGNA and Block Communications, as well as two additional stations owned by Weigel.
Weigel will air 30 WNBA games from the Chicago Sky on its flagship station WCIU (Channel 26) this year, and seven games on its partner broadcast stations throughout the season.
The seven stations that will simulcast games from WCIU are:
- WAND (Channel 20) in Champaign, owned by Block Communications
- WCWW-LD (Channel 25) in South Bend, Indiana, owned by Weigel
- WIFR-LD (Channel 28) in Rockford, Illinois, owned by Gray
- WMTV (Channel 15) in Madison, owned by Gray
- WMLW (Channel 49) in Milwaukee, owned by Weigel
- WPTA (Channel 21) in Fort Wayne, Indiana, owned by Gray
- WQAD (Channel 8) in Davenport, Iowa, owned by TEGNA
In some cases, the games will air on a sister station of a named broadcaster.
