Philo, Pluto TV nominated for Webby Awards

Philo, Pluto TV and Apple TV are among some of the streaming services nominated for this year’s Webby Awards, the organization revealed on Tuesday.

The companies were picked from more than 14,000 entrants submitted for this year’s award consideration, officials at the Webby Awards said in a statement.

“For over 27 years, The Webbys has had a front row seat to the changing digital landscape; today new and niche platforms are providing younger consumers with more options in an ever-expanding universe,” Ciel VanderVeen, the managing director of the Webby Awards, said on Tuesday. “This year’s nominees showcase the ingenuity, creativity and innovation that it takes for brands to connect with consumers of all ages.”

For streaming television, the Webby Awards are considering the following nominees:

Overall, Apple received the most nominations out of any company or organization with 22 potential Webby Awards to their name this year. MTV came in second with 15 nominations. Tied for the third-most nominations are National Geographic and Netflix with 14 each.

Among other media brands, CNN, the Washington Post and HBO Have 12 nominations; Amazon has 10 nominations; and ESPN, Paramount, Spotify and Wondery have eight nominations each.

The winners of the 27th annual Webby Awards will be announced on Tuesday, April 25, with an in-person celebration and awards show to take place next month.
