Philo is offering a deep discount on its wallet-friendly streaming cable television service for Black Friday.

New customers who sign up for Philo can snag a subscription to the streaming service for just $12.50, down 50 percent from the normal monthly rate of $25, by signing up at this link and using the promo code “BFCM23” at check-out. The discount only applies to the first month of service, which is calculated 30 days from the start of the subscription after a 7-day free trial period.

Philo offers access to general entertainment, lifestyle, knowledge and kids channels from a handful of programmers, including AMC Networks (AMC, IFC, BBC America, BBC World News, Sundance), A+E Networks (A&E, History Channel, Lifetime, FYI, Vice), the Discovery side of Warner Bros Discovery (Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Science Channel) and Paramount Global (Comedy Central, BET, VH1, TV Land, Logo, Nickelodeon). The service specializes in “comfort food” television — the kind you turn on, relax and unwind to after a long day at work or school — and includes networks that can be hard to find on other streaming services like Me TV, Story Television, Catchy Comedy, Cleo TV, Revry, TV One and Heroes & Icons.

Philo is known for offering generous features with its streaming service, including the ability to set 10 different user profiles, each with its own favorite channels list and unlimited cloud DVR that stores recorded shows and movies for at least 12 months. Three people can watch live programming on Philo at a single time, and the app is widely supported on smart TV platforms (Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Android TV/Google TV, as well as newer-model Samsung TVs), phones, tablets and desktop computers.

In addition to its core programming package of over 80 live channels, Philo also offers a “Movies & More” package that costs an extra $3 a month and includes access to channels like HDNet Movies, Movies!, Fandor, Reelz and Sony Movies. Subscriptions to Starz and MGM Plus (formerly Epix) are also available.

New customers can take advantage of the 50 percent off discount by signing up for a subscription at this link and entering the special code “BFCM23” at check-out. After the first month, Philo costs $25 per month until the service is canceled, and there are no contracts or long-term commitments.
