The new season of the National Women’s Soccer League will kick off on the E. W. Scripps Company’s Ion TV starting later this month, the company revealed on Tuesday.
For the coming season, Scripps Sports will tap Seb Salzar and Kylen Mills to serve as co-hosts of its NWSL on Ion studio shows, where the two will break down the matches being played each week and review highlights from recent matches, among other reporting and analysis duties.
“Seb Salazar is an exceptional talent in soccer reporting, bringing a wealth of experience and deep-rooted passion for the game,” said Brian Lawlor, the President of Scripps Sports. “His work on ESPN and his insightful commentary on Fútbol Americas have made him a trusted voice and a household name among soccer fans. Kylen Mills is a distinguished sportscaster whose extensive on-air analyst experience and deep understanding of soccer from her own time on the pitch make her an invaluable addition to our team. We are delighted to have Seb and Kylen at the helm of our NWSL on Ion studio show this season and eagerly anticipate the outstanding coverage and analysis they will bring to viewers.”
Scripps Sports and the NWSL will resume production of Saturday night double-header matches, with two distinct broadcast teams for games aired on Ion. The first match each week will pair J.P. Dellacamera on play-by-play with former U.S. Women’s National Team goalkeeper Jill Loyden as analyst. The second match will see Maura Sheridan call the games, while former NWSL player Jordan Angeli will serve in the analyst role.
“In our first season of coverage, Ion quickly became a popular home for the NWSL,” said Pacini. “We are picking up where we left off with a robust and experienced broadcast team, and we look forward to another great season for NWSL fans across the country.”
Scripps is coming off a high set last year, when its NWSL matches drew more than 20 million viewers to Ion and other channels. The 2024 season was the first full year of NWSL matches produced and distributed by Scripps Sports. The games are available on free broadcast television in markets where Ion is offered, and through the free, ad-supported streaming simulcast on Ion on leading platforms like Samsung TV Plus, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, Tubi, Xumo Play and Plex.
This year, the NWSL on Ion will feature 50 matches across 25 weeks of Saturday double-header games, starting with the first of such games on March 15. The complete schedule of games is available on the Ion website.
