Nexstar Media Group’s cable news channel NewsNation continued its growth spurt during the month of July, with its overall audience increasing 6 percent, making it one of the fastest-growing channels on cable and satellite.
All weekday programs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET posted double-digit or triple-digit year-over-year growth, Nielsen data reviewed by The Desk showed.
Among the standouts: “Morning in America” averaged 41,000 viewers in overall and 9,000 in the demographic of adults between the ages of 25 and 54 years old (A25-54), up 64 percent and 200 percent respectively.
“NewsNation Live with Marni Hughes” climbed 58 percent in total viewers and 120 percent in the A25-54 group, while both editions of “NewsNation Now,” hosted by Nichole Berlie and Connell McShane, saw increases of more than 30 percent in total viewers and 63 percent among A25-54 viewers.
The network’s flagship prime-time program “Cuomo,” hosted by former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, continued to experience viewership growth during July, increasing its audience by 20 percent, according to Nielsen ratings.
Weekend news programming also notched double-digit gains. “Morning in America Weekend” with Hena Doba averaged 53,000 overall viewers (up 29 percent) and held steady in the A25-54 demographic at 6,000 viewers. “NewsNation Live” with Laura Ingle gained 31 percent in total viewers and 11 percent among A25-54 viewers. Meanwhile, “NewsNation Now” with Anna Kooiman grew 19 percent in total viewers and 75 percent in the A25-54 demographic, while “NewsNation Now” with Keleigh Beeson rose three percent and 30 percent in those categories, respectively.
NewsNation has now recorded two consecutive months as one of the fastest-growing cable networks in the United States.
NewsNation is widely available on cable and satellite platforms, and is distributed by streaming cable alternatives like YouTube TV, Hulu with Live TV, Fubo and DirecTV Stream.
