Paramount Global’s local broadcast unit CBS News & Stations has hired Tim Hinson to serve as the Vice President and General Manager of its Dallas-Fort Worth owned-and-operated stations.
Hinson joins KTVT (Channel 11, CBS) and independent station KTXA (Channel 21) from the Walt Disney Company, where he served as the Vice President of Technology for its Houston-area ABC station KTRK (Channel 13).
At KTVT, Hinson will oversee all aspects of the station’s operations, and simultaneously run its sister-station KTXA. He reports to Jennifer Mitchell, the President of CBS Stations.
“Tim is a visionary leader with a rare blend of technical expertise and strategic insight,” Mitchell said. “At CBS Stations, we are committed to integrating emerging technologies to better serve our viewers and deliver critical stories across our markets. Tim’s technical background, coupled with his experience leading high-performing teams, makes him the ideal leader to guide CBS Texas into its next chapter.”
Hinson’s professional background includes launching 19 free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels, overseeing a master control transition and implementing AI-driven captioning across multiple stations. CBS Stations said those initiatives enhanced the viewer experience while improving operational efficiency and scalability.
“Local journalism is more important than ever, and I’m honored to join CBS Texas to help deliver the stories that matter most to the Dallas-Fort Worth community,” Hinson said. “I look forward to using my experience in technical operations and news leadership to innovate how we deliver the news, while honoring the station’s tradition of impactful storytelling.”
Earlier in his career, Hinson held leadership roles at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, where he managed live television operations for the International Space Station. His responsibilities included overseeing broadcast workflows supporting mission-critical coverage.
Hinson holds an MBA from LeTourneau University and dual bachelor’s degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. He recently completed the Strategic AI Certification Program at Houston Christian University and serves on the university’s advisory council.
