Sports-centric live-streaming television service Fubo TV says it will raise its base subscription price for all customers to $70 a month starting in May.

The move comes after Fubo TV eliminated a cheaper, $65 a month programming package for new customers.

The decision to raise prices came as a surprise after Fubo TV previously said current customers who were enrolled in the $65 a month package would be able to keep that level of service.

Now, all customers who stream content on Fubo TV will have to pay at least $70 a month, outside any free trial or promotional discount.

Fubo TV’s newest base package, called Fubo TV Pro, offers a 1,000-hour cloud DVR perk as well as the ability to simultaneously stream on up to 10 screens within a viewer’s home and 3 screens while on the go.

The cost of the Fubo TV Pro package brings it in line with similar base programming packages offered by DirecTV Stream and the Walt Disney Company’s Hulu with Live TV, though Fubo TV Pro offers more programming choices than either of those two services.

Programming partners for Fubo TV include the Walt Disney Company (ABC, ESPN, FX, Freeform, National Geographic), Comcast’s NBC Universal (NBC, Bravo, MSNBC, E!, USA Network, NBC Sports), Fox Corporation (Fox, Fox News, Fox Sports 1), Discovery Networks (Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Science Channel, HGTV, TLC), Paramount Global (CBS, Paramount Network, Comedy Central, CBS Sports Network) AMC Networks (AMC, IFC, We TV, BBC America) and others.

The service primarily focuses on sports content and includes agreements with Univision, Al Jazeera (BeIN Sports) and others to bring live and on-demand sports content to subscribers.

A more-expensive Fubo TV Extra package costs $80 a month and includes access to more streaming sports channels, including the NHL Network, NBA TV, Stadium and the Tennis Channel, as well as an expanded line-up of entertainment channels that include MTV 2, MTV Live, FXM and local Pac 12 Network channels.
