Charter Communications has promoted Jake Perlman to serve as the company’s Chief Technology and Information Officer, starting this week.

In the newly-created role, Perlman will have oversight of all software development and information technology (IT) teams at Charter, which includes those assigned to its telecom service brand Spectrum.

The unification of the software development and IT teams under Perlman’s leadership will “fully integrate software, engineering and technology operations, allowing the Company to deliver industry-leading products and services even faster,” a Charter spokesperson said.

Perlman will continue to report to Rich DiGeronimo, the President of Product and Technology, and will remain based in Colorado.

“To deliver seamless connectivity and entertainment across our converged mobile, Wi-Fi, internet and video products requires greater integration of our network and software platforms,” said DiGeronimo said in a statement. “Adding the Connectivity Technology and Technology Operations teams under Jake’s leadership will accelerate high quality technology delivery and improve the experiences for our customers and employees. Jake possesses the ideal blend of architectural vision and detail orientation, and he has a relentless pursuit of root cause to drive scaled architectural change, which is a critical attribute for continuous improvement.”

Perlman joined Charter in 2016 after serving as the Chief Information Officer of Bright House Networks, which was acquired by Charter that same year. During his time at Charter, he has worn a number of hats, to include Senior Vice President of Software Development and Executive Vice President of Software Development and IT, the latter of which has been his role for the past four year.

Perlman’s promotion to Chief Technology and Information Officer also comes with an Executive Vice President title.
