Two KCRA-TV reporters announced their intentions to leave the highly-rated Sacramento station less than a month apart, and for different reasons.
Earlier this month, evening anchor Kellie DeMarco announced she was leaving the station to launch her own public relations firm. The news came several weeks after DeMarco interviewed former FBI Director James Comey, whose remarks on the possible impeachment of President Donald Trump went viral the day after it was broadcast thanks in large part to a tweet from this reporter.
Her announcement was followed by a separate one from KCRA-TV (Channel 3) reporter Max Resnik, who said in a tweet on Tuesday he would leave the station after a three-year tenure.
“I’m forever grateful to have been a part of the history of this station,” Resnik wrote in note he screen-shotted from his phone and posted to Twitter. “Northern California, our family loves you.”
Despite purchasing his first house in Sacramento, the area was never home for Resnik. That’s Cleveland, where he and his family will relocate so his daughter can spend time with their extended family.
“I’ve truly loved living and working here,” Resnik wrote, “but it’s time for our family to head home.”
KCRA-TV, Sacramento’s NBC affiliate, is owned by Hearst Television, a subsidiary of Hearst Communications.
