After weeks of rumors, Amazon confirmed this week that it will soon release updated versions of its Fire TV devices to include a new Alexa-enabled voice remote.
The new remote comes with a dedicated power and volume buttons along with presets for Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney Plus and Hulu, according to images shared with The Desk on Tuesday.
Aside from the remote, the device hardware itself remains unchanged — the sticks bundled with the new remote will remain the same Fire TV Stick HD and Fire TV Stick 4K devices that are currently available on the market.
Amazon will start selling the new remote starting with the Fire TV Stick HD in late April. That version will cost $40. Amazon will also release two special edition versions of the remote, each with a dedicated Star Wars remote cover. The special edition remotes with the Star Wars Bounty Blue and Star Wars Groku Green covers will each cost $59.
The new Alexa-enabled voice remote will also be available to purchase separately for those with Fire TV devices who want to upgrade. That remote will be released in mid-April with a retail price of $30.
