Starting July 31, listeners who use the CBS Radio News app on phones and tablets to stream hourly updates, the World News Roundup and other programs will be redirected to the main CBS News app, which is available as a free download in app stores for Apple, Android and Amazon devices.
“We’re centralizing our streaming offerings in the CBS News app for a more holistic, singular CBS News experience,” a CBS News spokesperson said in a statement.
It was not clear if the end of the app would also result in CBS News pulling its 24-hour audio stream for CBS News Radio content.
In addition to radio content, the CBS News app and website includes live video streams of the national CBS News program feed, as well as localized versions of CBS News at more than a dozen owned-and-operated stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco and elsewhere.
CBS News Radio updates and programming will continue to air on more than 400 radio stations across the country.
