Fox Corporation has restructured its entertainment businesses across three core groups, which includes several promotions for current network executives.
On Wednesday, Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade laid out the structure of the new business, with products falling under the Fox Television Network, Fox Entertainment Studios and Fox Entertainment Global.
As part of the reorganization, Fernando Szew has been named the head of Fox Entertainment Studios, while Michael Thorn has been elevated to the role of President of the Fox TV network. Szew and Thorn will report directly to Wade.
“Under this new structure, every division of FOX Entertainment is now poised for growth and creative excellence as we super-serve our audiences everywhere,” Wade said in a statement. “Now the work begins.”
Fox Entertainment Studios will include Bento Box — the studio behind hit Fox series like “Bob’s Burgers” and “Grimsburg” — along with Fox Alternative Entertainment (“The Masked Signer”), MarVista Entertainment, Studio Ramsay Global and TMZ. Fox Alternative Entertainment will also oversee certain global production initiatives in partnership with broadcasters like TF1 in France, ProSieben in Germany and Workpoint in Thailand.
The Fox Television Network will consist of Fox’s flagship broadcast network, which includes content marketing and advertising sales. Fox Entertainment Global will oversee similar initiatives for overseas distribution and partnerships.
Allison Wallach will expand her duties, joining Szew as the Head of Global Unscripted Programming for Fox Entertainment Studios. Fox Entertainment Global will be served by Tony Vassiliadis on an interim basis until a permanent leader can be found; once a new head of Fox Entertainment Global is named, Vassiliadis will transition into a new senior role at Fox Entertainment, the company said.
Less clear is whether any of the three groups includes the streaming service Tubi, the streaming entertainment platform Fox acquired several years ago for $440 million. Tubi has traditionally operated as a separate business unit within Fox Corporation; over the past few years, senior executives at Fox have expressed a desire to streamline Tubi’s marketing and advertising sales teams within the company, potentially reorganizing them so they no longer operate as a standalone business.
