Spotify is preparing to launch a new tier of service that will offer enhanced playlist and library tools along with high-fidelity audio for around $17 per month, according to a report.

On Wednesday, Bloomberg said Spotify would offer the premium tier later this year, a move that would fulfill a promise to launch a super-premium version of the service that was first made several years ago.

Rather than introduce it as an enhanced plan, Spotify will market its premium audio tier as an add-on to a current Spotify subscription, Bloomberg said. The add-on will represent a 40 percent markup from a customer’s current plan, though the price could be adjusted if a subscriber includes it in a Spotify Duo or Spotify Family plan, which allows users to bundle their subscriptions together for deeper savings.

Spotify recently announced it would raise the cost of its base and bundle offerings, with subscribers paying $12 per month for Spotify Premium, $17 per month for Spotify Duo (two Premium subscriptions within the same household) and $20 per month for Spotify Family (six Premium subscriptions at the same address).
