Amazon has reached an agreement with Comcast and Paramount’s joint venture Sky Showtime to sell the streaming service through its Prime Video Channels marketplace in several European countries.
Starting this week, Sky Showtime can be purchased by Prime Video users in the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden, with prices comparable to what the service costs on its own in each country. The addition of the four countries comes about a month after Prime Video in Spain began offering Sky Showtime as part of a test run.
Sky Showtime offers content from properties owned by Comcast’s NBC Universal and Paramount Global, including Paramount Pictures, Dreamworks Animation, Universal Pictures, Comedy Central, CBS, NBC, Sky Studios, Paramount Plus, Peacock Nickelodeon and Showtime. The service is available mainly in parts of Eastern Europe and North Africa where Comcast and Paramount have few, if any, businesses.
The service operates on the same tech platform as Comcast’s stateside service Peacock, with Paramount offering content and a financial investment in the service. Sky Showtime launched in 2023, and is available in more than two dozen countries.
