The Fox News Channel’s interview with Vice President Kamala Harris drew 9.2 million viewers to the network on Wednesday, according to finalized Nielsen data.
The interview, conducted with Fox News Chief Political Anchor Bret Baier, ran during “Special Report with Bret Baier” from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The half-hour block drew 7.8 million overall viewers and 1.126 million viewers in the key demographic of adults between the ages of 25 and 54 years old (A25-54), the group most-attractive to cable news advertisers.
For the hour, Special Report grabbed 6.7 million overall viewers and 901,000 viewers in the A25-54 group, the Nielsen data showed. It was the highest-rated program in the 6 p.m. Eastern Time slot compared to shows airing on CNN and MSNBC.
A replay of the interview at midnight Eastern Time (9 p.m Pacific Time) grabbed 1.4 million overall viewers and 273,000 viewers in the A25-54 group, Nielsen data revealed. The sum of both airings of the interview brought the total number of overall viewers to 9.2 million, according to an analysis of ratings data by The Desk.
A spokesperson for Fox News Media, which operates the Fox News Channel, said it was “easily the biggest interview of the political season.” It was the highest-rated TV interview to involve Harris on any network since she became the Democratic nominee for President in August.
It also earned higher ratings than a town hall held earlier in the day with former President Donald Trump, which drew 3.1 million viewers to the Fox News Channel’s lunchtime program “The Faulkner Focus” on Wednesday, according to Nielsen data. While the audience was smaller than the Harris interview, the channel still won the time slot compared to other cable news networks. It was the program’s second highest-rated show of the year, a network spokesperson said.
