The Fox News Channel continued its election week momentum into the first full week of the post-election period, averaging nearly 2 million overall viewers during a seven-day period that started on Monday, November 11, according to Nielsen ratings.

In prime-time, Fox News programming saw an average of 3 million overall viewers tune in during the same time period, including 360,000 in the coveted demographic of adults between the ages of 25 and 54 years old (A25-54).

The channel grabbed 69 percent of total day cable news viewership during the seven-day period and 72 percent of all cable news viewers in prime-time.

By comparison, MSNBC saw its overall audience drop by 50 percent in the first full week after the election, logging 684,000 overall viewers in prime time and 65,000 in the A25-54 demographic. Total day viewership clocked in at 487,000 over the seven-day period, including 45,000 in the A25-54 demographic, per Nielsen data.

CNN continued to lose momentum as well, with its total day viewership coming in at 337,000 during the seven-day period, including 58,000 in the A25-54 demographic. In prime-time, CNN had 464,000 viewers and 88,000 in the A25-54 demographic, placing behind Fox News and MSNBC.

The post-election viewership trend largely mirrored that of Election Night itself, when Fox News won the evening with high overall and key demographic ratings. MSNBC placed second for the evening, the first time in that network’s history that it topped CNN, which came in third.
