Glitch leaves Sacramento Kings fans without game on TV

Uhh… (Graphic by The Desk)

A technical issue prevented fans of the Sacramento Kings from watching their home game on cable, satellite and some streaming services on Wednesday.

The glitch affected a feed of the regional sports network NBC Sports California Plus that is sent through a content delivery network to pay television services.

The issue meant Sacramento Kings fans were unable to watch the entire first quarter and a portion of the second quarter of the home game against the Toronto Raptors.

In a statement, an official with NBC Sports California — which also operates NBC Sports Bay Area — said they were aware of the issue and were working on a fix, but provided no other information.

The glitch affected customers across a wide number of pay television services, including Comcast’s Xfinity cable television, Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV, Fubo TV, DirecTV and DirecTV Stream. Customers quickly discovered that they could watch the game by downloading the NBC Sports app and using their cable, satellite or streaming TV credentials to log in and watch a live feed that was unaffected by the issue.

The Raptors beat the Kings with a final score of 115 to 93. The Kings have now won 27 games and lost 20 this season, placing them third in the NBA’s Western Division.
