Zoom is bringing a version of their widely-used video conferencing app to Apple TV devices for the first time.

The dedicated app, called Zoom for Home TV, uses a separate iPhone and its Continuity Camera feature to engage in two-way video calls between Zoom users across different platforms.

The app is available for free through the Apple App Store on newer-model Apple TVs. A free Zoom account is required to use it, with some power features relegated to the more-premium version of Zoom.

The Zoom for Home TV app expands the number of video conferencing services available to users of both Apple iPhones and Apple TV devices. It comes after Apple itself made a version of FaceTime accessible to Apple TV users who installed a newer version of the Apple TV operating system.

Apple TV is not alone in getting Zoom functionality: Users of Sky Glass in Europe and newer-model Sony Bravia TVs can use Zoom’s video conferencing featuers on their TV sets. Both Sky Glass and Sony Bravia TVs offer standalone webcams that attach to the top of their TV sets and which work with Zoom apps for each platform.
