The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) have officially launched a streaming bundle offering that marries Hulu, Disney Plus and Max together at a single price point.
The bundle costs $17 per month for the ad-supported tiers of all three services, or $30 per month if consumers prefer to stream TV shows and movies without commercial interruptions. Priced separately, the Disney-Hulu bundle costs $10 per month with ads or $20 per month without, while Max costs $10 per month with ads and $17 per month without.
The package is only available when consumers purchase the three services through direct billing — it isn’t available through app stores or other third parties — and existing subscribers of any or all three services can modify their plan to take advantage of the bundled pricing.
The offering comes at a time when media and entertainment companies have increased their consideration of bundles in an effort to generate higher advertising revenue and reduce consumer churn. In this instance, the Disney Plus-Hulu-Max bundle is unique, in that Disney will pay WBD a licensing fee to offer access to Max shows and movies through the bundle, rather than the two companies sharing in the revenue from the package.
Disney and WBD will each release their latest financial earnings disclosure reports in early August.
